Cougars Celebrate Academic Achievement at Six-Weeks Awards Ceremony

The Dell City School community came together last Wednesday, Sept. 25, to celebrate student achievement during the first six-week period of the 2019-2020 school year, and parents and families were in attendance for the awards ceremony at Cougar Gym. School Events Coordinator Catrina Wilson announced awards recipients, and Principal Carlos A. Contreras and Supt. Ruben Cervantes distributed awards. Congratulations to the Dell City School students on their hard work and achievements!

 

Awards recipients included:

 

In pre-K: Makenzie Alvord, with the “Best Storyteller” award; Magdalena Coto, for perfect attendance and the “Spunky Spirit” award; Rickayla Hanshaw, for perfect attendance and the “Biggest Heart” award; Luna McCray, with the “Best Manners” award; Michael Radunz, for the “Best Ideas” award; Russell Rakes, with the “Best Personality” award; Mathew Rangel, for perfect attendance and the “Newest Classmate” award; Allison Rodriguez, for perfect attendance and the “Happiest Classmate” award; Elisa Rodriguez, for perfect attendance and the “Best Handwriting” award; and Leonardo Segura, with the “Most Serious” award.

 

Kindergarten award recipients included: Jax Cruz, for the “Newest Classmate” award; Amari Estrada, for perfect attendance and the “Awesome Helper” award; and Cristhian Medina, for the “Most Dependable” award.

 

In first grade, recipients were: Eliseo Campos, for perfect attendance, the “Mathematician” award and A/B Honor Roll; Mia Garcia-Estrada, for the “Writing/Storytelling” award and for perfect attendance and A/B Honor Roll; Jaydan Perez, for the “Reader” award, the “Mathematician” award, perfect attendance and A/B Honor Roll; and Nicholas Radunz, for perfect attendance and the “Reader” award.

 

Second-grade award winners were: Nathan Ainsworth, with the “Mathematician” award; Jose McCray, with the “Reader” award, perfect attendance and A/B Honor Roll; Jesus Rodriguez-Velarde, for the “Mathematician” award, perfect attendance and A/B Honor Roll; Dana Solis, with the “Writing/Storytelling” award and A/B Honor Roll; and Gabriela Velarde, with the “Mathematician” award.

 

In third grade, award recipients included: Rachel Medina. for “Best Scientist” and A/B Honor Roll; Emmett Muise, for “Best Reader” and A Honor Roll; and Grayson O’Leary, for “Best Mathematician.”

 

Among fourth-graders, Aurora Bell received awards for perfect attendance, “Best Historian” and A/B Honor Roll; Anthony Galvan for “Best Mathematician” and A Honor Roll; Zachary Mendoza for perfect attendance, “Best Scientist” and A Honor Roll; Texana Scarbrough for “Best Reader” and A Honor Roll; and Violeta Solis for perfect attendance, “Best Historian” and A/B Honor Roll.

 

In the fifth-grade class, winners were: McKenna Crabb, with the “Certificate Of Excellence” and A Honor Roll; Samanta Espinoza, for perfect attendance, the “Miss Manners” award and A/B Honor Roll; and Cassidy Hale, with the “Awesome Artist” award.

 

In sixth grade, award recipients included: Brandon Crabb, with the “Hard Worker” award and A/B Honor Roll; Nicole Martos, with the “Growth Mindset” award and A Honor Roll; Rhiannon Muise, with the “Remarkable Reader” award and A Honor Roll; Dustin Neely, for perfect attendance and the “Helpful Hand” award; and Axel Sotelo, for perfect attendance and the “Rising Star” award.

 

Among seventh-graders, award recipients included: Jose Acosta, for perfect attendance, A/B Honor Roll and the “Certificate of Excellence”; Luis Guillen, for perfect attendance and A/B Honor Roll; and Joshua Rector, with the “Excellence” award.

 

The eighth-graders receiving awards were: Iris Ayala, for perfect attendance; Luis Ayala, for perfect attendance; Kortney Burford, for A Honor Roll; Reyes Espinoza, with the “Leader By Example” award; Carolina Garcia, for perfect attendance and A/B Honor Roll; Hunter O’Leary, with the “Technology Specialist” award; and Jeremiah Rauch, for A/B Honor Roll.

 

In ninth grade, Orlando Fuentes received the “Ready to Learn All Day Every Day” award and awards for perfect attendance and A/B Honor Roll.

 

Tenth grade award recipients were Liza Coto, for perfect attendance; and Esteban Morales, for “Best Programmer”

 

In the junior class, the award winners were Kaysie Burford, with the “Certificate of Excellence”; Vanessa Galvan, for perfect attendance and A/B Honor Roll; and Tristan Smetak, for A/B Honor Roll.

 

Senior-class award recipients included: Kassandra Acosta, for A Honor Roll; Maxine Burford, for perfect attendance and A Honor Roll; Christian Mendoza, for perfect attendance and A Honor Roll; Galicia Velarde, with the “Certificate of Excellence”; and Hunter Wilson, for perfect attendance.

And the entire first-grade class was recognized, for having perfect attendance as a class for the first six-weeks of the school year.
