Dell City ISD held commencement exercises Friday (May 31), and it was unforgettable evening. School board trustees, administrators and members of the Class of 2019 entered a nearly packed Cougar Gym to the melody of “Pomp and Circumstance,” performed by sophomore- and junior-class guitar students. Principal Carlos A. Contreras and Dean of Instruction Tesha Czubinski presided over the ceremony, and Supt. Ruben Cervantes shared an inspirational message with the soon-to-be graduates. The class' valedictorian, Caleb Bell, and its salutatorian, Reilly Czubinski, both took the stage to share thoughts with their classmates and the assembled crowd. The graduating Cougars presented flowers to parents, loved ones and teachers. Two members of the class are children of school faculty, and they were presented their diplomas by their parents. Cousins Galicia and Emilia Velarde, of the Class of 2020, sang before the ceremony, and as a recessional. The ceremony ended with a rousing video presentation, featuring photos of the graduates from childhood to the present.
The Dell City School, and the Dell Valley community, are proud of the 10 members of the Class of 2019, and are excited for them as they enter a new chapter in their lives.
